I found this Rebecca Taylor jumpsuit (similar, more affordable options here, here, and here) and instantly fell in love with the black and white floral pattern and ruffle details. When I put it on I immediately thought it would be a great date night look; I can totally picture it being worn for a nice dinner out or drinks at the latest hot spot.
I paired the jumpsuit with these sandals from Target that can basically be worn with anything, and this pink velvet clutch by Street Level (can also be worn as a crossbody and also available in black). I love velvet and I love pink so I figured I couldn’t go wrong with this clutch, plus it adds some color to my neutral outfit. If you want to make your shoes be the pop of color, these pink velvet sandals from Target are pretty amazing!
Since this jumpsuit got date nights on my brain, I started thinking of fun date ideas that aren’t the classic dinner and a movie date. I’m all for food and movies, but sometimes it’s fun (and necessary) to switch it up a bit. So next time you and your man are stumped on what to do for your next date, feel free to refer to this list.
Play at an arcade, amusement park, or mini-golf course
This is the type of date you might go on in middle school, but I think that makes it all the more sweeter. It’s always fun to act like kids again, so go ahead, play arcade games, ride all the rides (and laugh about how they might break down at any moment), or get a little competitive during a round of mini-golf. Sounds romantic to me!
Have a picnic on the beach or in the park
This one’s a no-brainer! Pack some snacks and a big blanket and lounge around in the park or on the beach together for a few hours. For extra romance points, go in the evening and stay to watch the sunset.
Go for a walk
I don’t know if this really qualifies as a true “date” but I know I’m always up for a good walk. It can be a ton of fun wandering around exploring a new neighborhood together, and who knows, maybe on your walk you may discover a quirky shop to check out or cute new coffee shop to try. If you both enjoy the outdoors you can make your walk a little more intense and go for a hike. Unless you don’t know the guy very well; then I wouldn’t recommend going into the woods alone with him. #safetyfirst
Go to a botanical garden
I recently went to the San Diego Botanic Garden with my dad and thought it was really and fun interesting. It would be a great place to go with your significant other to discover some new plants together. Those of you who are married or live with your SO might also find inspiration for your very own garden!
Visit a museum
Museums are always interesting and going to a museum with bae is a great opportunity for you to learn something new together. If you’re in the LA area, there are tons of museums to check out like the Getty, The Broad, LACMA, or the Natural History Museum just to name a few.
Volunteer at your local animal shelter
What’s cuter than you, your date, and a bunch of adorable animals?! This is a great way to spend time together and make a difference in your community. If animals aren’t your thing, there are tons of other places to volunteer, such as your local children’s hospital, homeless shelter, nursing home, or community garden. Just be sure to see what the requirements to volunteer are; most places require you to do an orientation before being allowed to volunteer.
Hit the water
If you’re lucky enough to live by the ocean or lake, try out some watersports together, like kayaking or paddleboarding for example, or for the more adventurous, jet skiing or wind surfing. Most lake or beach towns have plenty of places where you can rent gear for the day or a few hours. Long Beach has hydrobikes that you can rent and I’ve always wanted to try!
Take a cooking class
Cooking together can be a ton of fun and a great way to bond. Maybe you already like to cook together at home, but why not take a cooking class together to mix things up a bit? You’ll learn some new tricks and you’ll get to try out a new recipe together.
Go for a bike ride
Like taking a walk, going for a bike ride can be a great way to discover unknown parts of your own city, while releasing feel good endorphins. Plan out a route ahead of time or make up your route as you go, stopping anywhere you please. If you don’t own bikes, find a place where you can rent bikes for the day or a few hours. Most major cities are also starting to roll out bike share programs, making it easier than ever to bike around town. To see if your city has a bike share program, click here.
Visit a pick-your-own farm
Last but not least, spend some time together at a u-pick farm. You’ll have lots of fun wandering around the farm and picking all the best produce together, plus it will give you the added opportunity to make a meal using your freshly picked fruits or veggies. And since you worked so hard to pick the ingredients yourself, the meal you make will taste even better! If there aren’t any u-pick farms near you, visit your local farmers market instead. It’s still fun to wander around checking out all the different booths and sampling yummy food.

These are some good ideas that no one would ever think of, I mean who thinks of volunteering at an animal shelter as a date idea? But it’s a good idea.
