I spent a weekend in San Francisco a few weeks back (actually it’s been a whole month now; where does the time go?!) for my sister’s Master’s graduation and the weather was absolutely beautiful! It was warmer and sunnier than I’ve ever seen San Francisco, making it the perfect weekend for a graduation and little soiree. My Grandpa’s flat has the cutest little backyard patio so my sister decided to have a garden party to celebrate the occasion. We spent the day before her graduation fixing up the garden and stringing lights to add to the ambiance. Inspired by the whole garden party thing and the fact that I don’t get to see my sister very often, I thought it would be fun for us to do a photo shoot together in the garden, wearing festive floral pieces. As you can probably see from the photos, we had a lot of fun doing this and there were many laughs. As an added bonus, our brother was our cameraman for the day, making it even more fun!
I’m wearing an old dress by WAYF, but I linked some similar options at the bottom of this post. When I first saw this dress I fell in love with the print (I’m a sucker for floral) and the cutout detail on the front. It’s the perfect dress for special occasions like graduations and weddings! Alexis is wearing this floral jumpsuit by J.O.A. I really love the yellow color of this jumpsuit and the ruffle sleeves, adding just the right amount of feminine details.
My shoes are from Forever 21, and again are older so aren’t available, but I’ve linked similar ones below. Even though I’ve had these shoes for awhile, for some reason I hadn’t really worn them much up until this spring. But I feel like they’ll be getting a lot of use this summer. Alexis is wearing these Merona sandals from Target in the dark denim color. I love the idea of denim shoes for spring and summer and they go with pretty much anything. I actually have the same pair of sandals in black, which wasn’t planned. Alexis and I also painted our nails the same color, also not planned. Great minds think alike I guess!
Our grandpa’s dog Heidi also joined us for this shoot! When she’s not following my grandpa around she loves spending every chance she gets out in the garden, especially when she has guests!
I hope you all enjoyed this sister, sister post! Stay tuned for another one coming soon!
