Hi! I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend. I had a pretty mellow weekend but did go on a little day trip to the San Diego area to visit my dad. We took a trip to the San Diego Botanic Garden because I had never been but has always been curious. It was a lot bigger than I had expected! We spent a good couple of hours walking around exploring the place (and still missed a few of the gardens I think) and we were both pretty tired by the end of it. There are various gardens based on region or plant type, some of my favorites being the bamboo garden and the tropical rain forest. They also had a lot of interesting fruit trees, some of which I had never even heard of! It was definitely fun to wander around and learning about all the different plant species. More information about the San Diego Botanic Garden is available on their website if you’re interested in going. I took lots of pictures so enjoy scrolling through them!
My dad and some giant bamboo stems.
I loved this little pond filled with lily pads.
If I remember correctly, these are a kind of fig, but they look like artichokes to me.
Another weird kind of fig that looks like something from another world.
Check out those roots!
Standing by a waterfall near the tropical rain forest. It felt like we were in the Caribbean!
This is a sapphire tower plant, which was quite spectacular. The turquoise color was like nothing I’ve ever seen on a flower before!
My dad and I!
